On a coffee tour you get to follow the coffee bean’s journey; how the plants grow and how each bean is carefully picked by hand. How the coffee is dried, roasted, and grinded. This is a very interesting and educational tour of the life cycle of coffee and you usually enjoy your next cup of coffee a little extra when you understand the amount of work that goes into making it before we can drink it at home.
An educational and tasty getaway where you can follow the coffee’s journey from bean to cup
Today they grow coffee in large parts of Costa Rica and you can take coffee tours on a number of coffee plantations and roasting plants around the country. Coffee production started as early as the beginning of the 18th century in Costa Rica. The coffee plant Arabica was grown in the mountains around the capital San José and Central Valley. There were perfect conditions there for growing coffee as the plants need nutrient-rich soil, high altitudes and both warm and cold climates.
Around the country there are also coffee shops that can offer you a fantastic cup of coffee. At the square in the small city Santa Elena in Monteverde there is a café called Beso Espresso that according to me might make the world’s greatest cafe latte and cappuccino. if you come here on your journey through Costa Rica, don’t miss it. Here you will choose the blend of coffee bean that suits your own tastes and then they will brew it to perfection.
Bring:Camera, sunblock and pocket money if you want to buy coffee or chocolate on site.
