The first week you will visit the jungle by the Caribbean Sea, the Arenal Volcano and the Monteverde Rainforest. Then you have a week of sunbathing and swimming on the beautiful Flamingo Beach on the Pacific Ocean side. Throughout your journey you will have optional excursions to choose from and see many species of animals, and explore the beautiful nature. You can also go fishing, surfing and visit the country’s largest tourist city, Tamarindo, which is just 30 minutes south from Flamingo Beach.

Our journey 16/2 – 3/2 2016 was a wonderful experience with a lot of activities. We started in the mountains with rainforest and exciting jungle, where we got to experience suspension bridges, ziplines, colibries and butterfly park in Selvatura Park. From the active volcano Arenal, there were many hot springs that we took the opportunity to enjoy. Equipped with flashlights we were out on night hike in the jungle and got to see both snakes, frogs and sloths etc.

The plan for the tour

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica

Pick-up at the airport in San Jose and transfer to hotel Barcelo Palacio, 15 min from the airport for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Tortuguero National Park

Now the adventure begins, you leave San Jose early in the morning to make your way down to Tortuguero on the Caribbean side of the country. even the bus trips throughout Costa Rica are an amazing experience, you will see a variety of nature and fantastic views as you travel between the different destinations throughout your journey Once you’ve arrived at the hotel, which is located on an island in the middle of the national park’s river delta, make yourself at home, you will go on your first optional excursion and visit the small village of Tortuguero and the Caribbean Sea.

Day 3: Tortuguero

On this day you can make two more excursions and will be able to see multiple species of animals and vegetation. The first excursion is a river boat trip through the river delta where you will be able to see, among other things, turtles and crocodiles. After lunch there will be a final tour, a hike into the jungle around the hotel. Here you get another image of the mighty nature in Tortuguero.

Day 4: Arenal Volcano

After breakfast you will travel through a wonderful landscape on a journey towards the mighty volcano Arenal. Once at the hotel Montereal, you have the afternoon free to stroll around in the wonderful tropical garden or take a trip to the small village of La Fortuna.

Day 5: Arenal Volcano

This day is full of opportunities and you can choose from many excursions like visiting the magnificent waterfall of La Fortuna, taking a guided tour around the volcano, or swimming in the mineral springs heated by the volcano. We strongly recommend you to make this all-day excursion: Adventure day around the Arenal volcano

Day 6: Arenal-Monteverde cloud forest

After breakfast you head to Monteverde’s rainforest. Once there you will enjoy incredible nature; Monteverde has 2,500 different types of plants, of which 490 are orchids. Here it is not uncommon for you to see many species of birds, including hummingbirds and toucans.

Day 7: Monteverde

Today you have the chance to try one of the country’s longest canopy, or zip line as we might also call them. This zip line is built among the tree tops over the valleys in the middle of Monteverde’s rainforest; the longest line is about 700m long. You can also admire nature by taking a guided tour on suspension bridges through the rainforest. You can make several different excursions but we recommend this full day tour with great variety:Adventure day in Monteverde .

Day 8-14: Flamingo Beach, Tamarindo or Samara

Now the last part of your adventure begins, from Monteverde you go to Flamingo, Tamarindo or Samara’s white Pacific beaches. Here you can enjoy the sun on either the long beaches or at the hotel’s pool areas. This is a perfect end to your journey. If you hunger for more adventures you can go on a Sunset Cruise, half a day catamaran-sailing(Flamingo or Tamarindo) on the Pacific Ocean where you can snorkel and with some luck see both dolphins and humpback whales. You can also go anglinghere. From these three places you can also go surfing.

Day 14: Travel to San Jose

In the afternoon you will return to San Jose and Barcelo Palacio for a last night before the flight home.

Day 15: Return home

Transfer to Juan Santa Maria Airport in San Jose for return journey. Hi then Costa Rica!
